Call Bill Hirsch and ask for samples of Wilton Wool (which does also mean it is susceptible to moths) - my guess is they have a color that will work well with your car as they make nice Blues and Maroons - Reds. You want the carpet with the fabric backing (AACA and CCCA will not take off points for carpet with the fabric backing).

Also, several companies (available via any good carpet store) make a industrial grade commercial equivalent to Wilton Wool - it has sort of a sprayed on white plastic backing that is at least better than rubber but ..... The color choices are pretty good too. My upholster has threatened to kill me as he hates to sew binding on such (it is very ridged carpet). I have had such in our 851 Phaeton for 10 years now - and I can tell you many an occasion it has been soaked nearly across the entire car via touring and trips to and from Auburn Festival.

Also Metro Molded Parts makes a nice Auburn Script black rubber throw mat - that if it will fit in width helps cut down carpet and rubber mat wear.

Curt Schulze makes a very nice rubber mat for 851/852 and I suspect I will be impressed with any 31/32 mat he will make in the future - long haul I would seek such from him when available. And, short haul I would carpet front - incorrect, but .....

I suspect so, but the molding process will be completely different.

You know I'll be interested in a couple of mats! When you do get around to reproducing them, do you expect them to be in the same price range as the 34-36 mats/
Thx

I will be making them in the future. For now you will have to make your own. I am in possession of a very original 19,000 car that has a wonderful pattern if you are interested in reproducing them.

The front floor mat was rubber in all body styles. Check with Bill Hirsch for the rear .
