Not uncommon to renumber and sell leftovers from one year to another, especially by makers with lower production numbers. I know it was done up into the 1960s

Auburn has been known to re badge the previous model year and sell them as current. It is really a 27 sold as a 28.

Yes C7 is the body style and Central started with 101 for body numbers thus 195 th body built

I think C-7 is the body style and 296 is the sequence number of that body style. Randy, correct me if I am wrong here !

Helmut . My memory is that this car is a touring car. So the plate is saying that this cars body what ever it is was made by Central Manufacturing co and was the 195 th one built. R

Hello. The orig serial plate was on the firewall in the inside of the car above the gas pedal. If there is a frame number on a left hand drive car it is on the right frame rail usually around the holes for a right hand drive steering gear. All that being said it may not have a stamped frame number. Good luck let me know what you find. R
