This appears to be a 1936 show car. Its clearly seen this has the voltage regulator on top of the generator. The oil and water come from the cowl vent and there is a small carb air filter on it. also this engine exhaust does not have any asbestos wrap on the header pipes. Don't know what the lady was wearing but sure looks like it was cold there.

Example of B.F. Goodrich tires - the dual Diamonds help ID in vintage photos. I want to say Vogue used two eagles, Firestone the shield with an "f" in it, and .....

When my parents lived in Jacksonville, FL and Dad was having health problems, I needed to call one of their neighbors to replace the battery in my 1941 Cadillac 60 Special Fleetwood - a car I sent down there as it was much easier to drive than their cars. Unfortunately, the battery in a 1941 Cadillac is well buried under hood by the passengers side cowl/frame rail and even with a battery strap is no picnic to get in or out, so I switched all the cars to optima battery at that time as you can pick an Optima up with a single hand and .....

I used to use red top Optima's, but now prefer the top of the line NAPA battery. A USL tag could be made from the above pix.
I do have one of those empty cases left that John refers to, if you want to go down that road.

BTW, I found that Optima batteries do not like to be quick-charged. They get hot and take no charge

Mark, they are just a black case, but they do have some detail to them and you can pick-up some sort of interesting battery decal via ebay or ... and install (ie they have a flat spot without detail that is perfect for an decal).

I have been buying "cases" for Optima 6VRed Tops - They can be a tight fit in an original Auburn Battery holder (Curt supplied me a reproduction "larger/deeper" bracket, but not something at the time that he commonly had). And, keep in mind that Optima's are great but equally can be a poor choice for certain types of usage = ex. cars that get started repeatedly and driven little, getting a freshly restored car in tune (again frequent starts, excessive turning them over, and .....), and .....
There are a couple of suppliers and most with shipping run 85.00 to $125.00

OK, I have an old wiring diagram, but not one with that notation about the battery USL.
Nobody reproduces that USL case, I would imagine..
Thanks Curt

Anybody know what brand battery Auburn had from the factory. Autolite? I know this is a long shot, somebody would have to find a car that was put away and forgotten, not long after it came out of the factory...
