Glad Daytona worked - they are smart too (you can ask questions very specific to your carb).

Hi, I search for your post titled "EE15 carb Restoration" and could only find the note you sent about locating the post. Any other ideas how to find it?

My restoration post is called EE15 carb Restoration and its about 1 year ago.
I must warn you about 1 screw that is left hand thread. This screw is the one that connects the accelerator pump arm to the body near the top of the carb. No idea why its this way.If yours is stripped like mine good luck finding a left hand heli coil. I plan to use JB WEld and see how that works.Drilling it out. Fabricating a bushing. Cutting both left and right hand threads and installing it seems like too much work for this screw. Mine worked fine even though it was stripped by someone long before me.

If you are using a electric fuel pump get a gear rotor pump, no rubber only metal gears. Nothing for the ethanol to attack.

Many thanks. I'll find your posts. The cork came from the mechanical pump. I have both mechanical and electric. I recently moved to Raleigh NC from Northern California. Had great mechanic in Calif. He used to work on Josh Malk's Moonbeam so I had great trust in him. I haven't found anyone here that "speaks Cord"

Please look at my postings showing the step by step of the carb takedown.
As for a best rebuild kit I too and looking for advice on this. Both the 1936 or the 1947 Cord parts forum on ebay offer the same kits. One is 51 bucks where the other is 75 bucks. I beleive both kits are the same but do not know for certain. Stan sells a rebuild kit too. I was given a place near Canada or actually in that country that rebuilds these carbs if you want them to do it for you. I attwempted contacting them twice thru their email but never got a responce. So I washed my hands of them. I think Pete Kelly suggested them to me but its been about 2 years ago. I really do not know of any cork gaskets in the carb kits. Are you sure the cork came from the carb. Egge Machine shop in Whittier Ca. also sells a rebuild kit. Just a wild guess but I bet Nappa or rock Auto may sell the kits too.
Your going to want to clean out the carb too of any forien material. Out here on the west coast we can't get the "good carb cleaner" and longer. I have a 1 gallon can from about 25 years ago I used for my carb.. I would not remove the throttle plates or the throttle shaft either. But the main jet caps come off easily as do the jets in the carb. You do not need to remove the booster tubes in the carb but the pieces behind the jets will come out easily. Again... I posted some very easy to see pics of whats inside.

I am blindly going where I've never gone before. The mechanical pump's composite cork gasket crumbled and has fouled the carb. I started disassembling the carb from the top down thinking I wouldn't need to remove the whole thing. WRONG. I doesn't come apart in layers. I am assuming I'll need to get a rebuild kit. I've never built a carb. Do the kits generally come with diagrams? Are kits basically the same or is one supplier better than another? Is there someplace I can get a blow up of the EE15? Any pitfalls I should be aware of? This is like doing heart surgery without ever seeing a heart.
