Forget quick gear changes. The main concern is protecting the gearbox an d saving it from damage.
When I had my Cord on the road I held the clutch pedal flat on the floor for two seconds each time I changed gears.
Having flow restrictors reduced the shock loading as the main cylinder is really too big for the job.
I found that I had to have the flow restrictors almost fully closed . It is a good modification to do.
I also fitted micro switches to first and reverse gears that let you know when the gears have been selected properly by small lights under the dash. That basically eliminated accidental gear crunching. It all worked very well.
