J-147, chassis 2168 is being auctioned by Auctions American at the Auburn sale. This car has a memorable place in my history, as it is the 1st Duesenberg I ever drove when it was for sale in 2006. I strongly considered buying J147, but ended up passing on it. Back then it was black and in need of restoration. Now it is silver and apparently has been fully restored. A very handsome car in my humble opinion.

Raydon R."Don"Thompson owned it when I first saw it and it was being
revived, not restored. We drove it as a king size hot rod with no body on
the frame like Leno does now. That LeBaron body didn't add much weight to the car and it was fast even after we reinstalled it. Don sold it to a man in Maryland and I think his name was Blash. It was also the first one I used a wrench on when I installed the intake manifold. Sixty four years have gone by since that warm summer day and the random encounter with one of the premier cars of the world. A long and interesting run.

The car itself was fairly nice. not to many issues that i could see. Granted that being a rebody hurts its value. it does have a interesting story on he factory switching bodies and being a factory demo car.

Hello Bob,
the car @Gooding auction is (as Randy posted) J-173, looks like that car is a (almost unrestored?) survivor.
The ex T. Powers car @Mecum is J-391
That car looked in the past different to today, in the time of T. Powers ownership it has a darker paint and no roof-top folded "on deck".
I saw a black and white picture of that car only with a kind of persenning that covered a "gap" (rooftop compartment?) between the rear seats and the trunk. In that days the car maybe has had a hidden roof-top folded in a compartment or there was no roof-top installed... I don't know.
EDIT: It has had a persenning, instead a folded roof-top, as you can see on the fabulous Duesenberg-Site of Jack Curtright
