Welcome to the ACD forum Vaughn, and congrats on your new Duesenberg. I don't know if you remember me, but I have been over to your place a couple times on tours, with my cream colored 49 Plymouth and my white Duesenberg Murphy roadster.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I'll give your post a bump.
I find information such as you are asking about hard to come by on the web. Some of it is controversial and poeple don't like to get into it online. Have you joined the ACD club yet? The directory lists the contact information for the various marque experts in the club who are a good resource.

Duesenberg engine was created by Va 33
We are restoring J 408 some cars appear to have the block/head ground and smoothed like a street rod during judging is this acceptable?
