Hey Leif - keep in mind this post was made before the 2016 Reunion...don't want anybody wondering where the tour is this year! :)

I agree. I might consider tagging along in back of the pack.

This sounds like a wonderful idea and trip. I sure would be a part of it if I was going to be there or have my Beverly there.

Factory test route tour was created by Tim Gilmartin
Hello all: some years ago, the late John Martin Smith drew up for me a factory test route. Where he got the information is unknown to me. There was a known test route of about three miles long between Angola and Butler. It was used to test fuel economy, among other things; and there were strict rules about outside air temperature, wind velocity, etc. John Martin Smith's route goes south out of the factory area and includes straight , flat roads, stops, hills, and tight turns. Overall length is about 28 miles. It put a car through its paces in the late twenties and early thirties.
For those of you who would like to drive this factory test route, you are in luck. We will drive it on Friday morning of the Reunion, leaving the Museum area at 11:30AM. We will start lining cars up on Wayne Street at 10:45. I will conduct a driver's meeting at 11:10. It will be open to all ACD cars, of course, but modern cars can follow the pack. There will be an Indiana State Patrol escort, and a trouble truck. About the halfway mark of this grueling test, we will stop for a buffet luncheon at the Autumn Ridge Golf Club. There is plenty of parking. After lunch, we continue the tour back to the Museum. On this leg, we pass the Auctions America area, and you are welcome to peel off the tour at this point.
Please sign up for this fun run. We are raising money for a State Patrol charity, and for the Club. It may be a little pricey for a luncheon, but please re-read the previous sentence.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments either on this Forum, by email, or by phone.
See you on the road!
CORDially, Tim.
