I heard a rumor that Fred Duesenberg designed the Auburn V12. All of the published accounts say that Auburn engineer George Kublin designed it.

The valve and rocker arm setup are certainly reminiscent of the Duesenberg walking beam engine. And the the cast aluminum oil pan with the fins on the inside, outside, and windage tray are similar to the model J design.

What is the truth, was Fred involved?

Thanks, Joel
