Don't rely on sellers claims. Bring a magnet. I don't know this car, just a tip on any purchase. If you are not going to inspect the car personally get some one to do it for you. I hope you are dealing with the owner and not a broker.

The serial number plate appears to be original. The engine block stamp appears to be original. The certification team evidently felt the same way when the car was certified. You can get a copy of the certification paperwork from Jim O’Brien (PA) , who is the certification chair. Or the owner may have a copy.
You are doing your homework! That is a good thing when purchasing a car.

The seller also claims this car has been certified by the A.C.D. Club as having the original engine to this chassis along with its original super charger. Is there any way to verify that?

Thank you. Yes, I misunderstood the seller. The S/N is 31700H, The engine number is FC2287. This appears to be an original Cord. The seller claims there is no fiberglass or bondo and it has been totally restored to its original condition. Here is a pic of the nameplate.

Gentlemen: Mr. Shearer seems to be providing the serial number of a 1937 S/C Phaeton, numbered 31700H. It is not a certification number. 31700H is a certified Cord, and that would be C-146.
I hope this helps.
Tim.

Thank you. Yes this is a different car. The number 31700 is supposed to be an ACD certification of the car. I have asked for a picture of the nameplate.

You will remember I responded to you 12-24-2017 on another Cord purchase inquiry on what appears to have been a different car. If the number you have now provided , viz. 31700H , is the serial number of the car you are looking to purchase , then I can report that THE MASTER CORD LIST of ACD Club historian Ron Irwin shows this cas to have Engine #FC2287 and Body # C9445 and owned by one G. Doshay of California in 1995. I have no other information about this vehicle. Again, good luck in your shopping for a suitable CORD.

I am considering purchasing a 1937 812. The seller stated it has an ACD certification #31700H. I would like any information the club has on this car.
