Club Technicians & Historians

Obtaining Information about your Auburn, Cord, or Duesenberg Automobile.

The ACD Club has volunteer historians and technicians who are excellent resources for members. They have a wealth of information about the cars in our club, but they are very busy, so we ask that you be patient and do your own research first.

A few things to keep in mind when reaching out:

  • Replicas: A common question is how to tell the difference between a replica and an original car. Auburn Speedsters from 1935-1936 were frequently replicated, but with a little patience, you can spot the differences.

  • The Auburn Automobile Company: The company built several brands of cars, not just Auburns. It also produced Cords and Duesenbergs, much like how Ford or GM operates.

  • Research: Before contacting a volunteer, please use the internet and books to do as much research as possible on your own.

  • Essential Information: When you do reach out, be sure to include the car’s serial number, engine number, and body numbers. This information is key to helping them identify your vehicle. However, note that factory records rarely exist for original paint colors or upholstery.

  • ACD Club Newsletters: Some club historians have full sets of past newsletters, but there isn’t a comprehensive index, so it can take a long time to locate specific information.

  • Limited Information on Early Cars: The ACD Club Historians may not have much information on Auburns from 1920 or earlier. From the 1920s to 1936, a lot more data is available.
