I think the original cut out was a fabricated Y piece with a flap valve to change the direction of the gas flow. Henry Portz had one on his cabriolet. Henry's Cord had the foot control.
The accessory cut out listed in the Cord Service Manual Item No 4A, July 9, 1936 ..............
mentions the most desirable location for the cut out is in front of the resonator and the control is mounted in the floor.
I found the picture of Moonshadow's cut out, however it is located behind the resonator as there is insufficent room between the front of the resonator and the "Y" piece. This is probably because the original system had been replaced.
Interestingly the lower part of the sill or rocker panel has been painted black.

I think the control was foot operated on the floor but not certain.
Henry Portz's cabriolet also had a cut out with the control definitely on the floor.
I thought I had a picture of Moonshadow's cut out but can't find it.
Attached are pages from a CORD accessory catalogue, probably put out by Dallas Winslow.

I've got to see if I can dig out the exhaust cut-out, it's a Y pipe with a flapper and a cable that went to the dash. I don't know if I've ever seen on installed in a car.
Here is a picture of a car with the crest and fog lights:

Do the "nostrils" really help ventilation when installed, or were they more for show?
Once more, a list with photographs of dealer accessories for Cords would be a handy addition to the Restoration Manual...

which made me think of the other factory approved accessories. In the 1950s my dad had a 812 Beverly that had just about every accessory you could find in the catalog. Fog lights, exhaust cutout, hood lock, etc. My question is what accessories do you have or have you seen?
From that Beverly I still have the grills that cut into the front of the hood and transmission cover for extra cooling. I swear I saw these in an accessories catalog or factory advertisement but I can't find it. I'll post some pictures when I get home. Anyone else ever seen these?
