Just as important is the diameter. The original bolts "necked down" to a smaller diameter between the ends, which were a larger diameter to fit the steel cups. I think the two diameters were 3/4" and 1/2". The replacement bolts, like Henry's, are 3/4" along their entire length.

Go to Henry Portz web site. See the suspension bolts he offers. Much better than what the factory had to offer because of the metal they used 70 years ago...

Probably the saftey loops which "restrain" the spring from dragging on the pavement

I have just had one of the front spring suspension rods snap,lucky I had the restrainers fitted.
I will make a new pair of bolts but I need to know the correct grade of steel,can anybody help?
