rear wheel bearings was created by Thom
I am in the process of repacking the rear wheel bearings on my 1933 8101A Auburn. So far I've needed a wheel puller to remove the wooden wheel drums, a slide hammer to remove the axles from the rear housing and now I'm stuck at getting the bearings off the tapor axle. I am using a 3 jaw gear puller but they wont budge. I have been using P B Blaster with no results. Would someone tell me the trick to removing the bearings? Is it necessary to take it to a shop to have them removed professionally and then have them pressed back on? They were packed 2500 miles ago, still have grease in them, but need to be redone. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks, Thom
