Sorry Scott, could your car be a rebodyed tank ???? :D

i prefer the muscle car body !
This just came to my mind since Rolls Royce B 80 engines where used in tanks as well .

The more i know, the more i realize that i don't know enough.

<!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> Yeah, I know about the AMX tanks from eBay searches. Every so often a book or model kit pops up.

It's probably easier to find parts for those!

Philipp

The original AMX was a 2-seater produced by American Motors from 1968-70. This is the '68 I am restoring right now in my backyard shop. It looks nice (and it really is) but has a lot of issues being a 42-year old muscle car.

I recently sold my factory original pink AMX to a collector in Vermont.

Thanks for your positive comments on the price/value. I have just listed the car on eBay. I hope that a purist can make since of it, but I am afraid it makes for a better rod. Anyway, for all of you who might have an interest, it is listed as eBay item # 190476891355. No reserve price of $10,900. Cord fans....save it from the roddders!

That's a fair price, I'd love to restore that one! It's just not a good time right now as I have a customer's AMX in the shop that I have to finish first. I hope that I can find something that nice when the time is right.

Hi Scott.

I had it on for a NO RESERVE starting price of $10,900. I am hoping for closer to $12,000 - $13,000 but the market will tell me. The car will be listed again on eBay next week, at the same NO RESERVE price. Hoping to list it by Monday. If interested before then, call me at 805-238-1555 or 805-39-0509.

812 1201A is one of the over 150 1936 Model 810s that was not sold by the time the 1937 812s came out. Auburn changed the number plate, with "812" replacing "810". Every Cord with a serial number lower than 812 1526 is a renumbered 810.

I hope this car will find its way into the hands of someone who will restore it as an authentic Cord.

Replied by ehrkes on topic Photos of the Westchester
Thank you Chris. I have already joined the club in October, and look forward to learning more about these cars. And thanks for the tip on how to post photos. I've attached a few here.

Based on one of the rear photos showing the original raw body seams, I had one comment that it didn't look like the typical Cord seams and rather that of a early delivery car to Mr. Ab Jenkins. Another comment said that the serial # 1201 might be the first car built in 1937. Maybe by seeing some of these pictures, someone can help me determine if there is any accuracy to this, or just someones incorrect information.

Scott,

Here is how to upload a photo. (I recommend PhotoBucket, but that's just a matter of taste.)

forums.phpstack-1081784-3880776.cloudway...viewtopic.php?t=2448

Someone who knows much more about Cords than I will probably be able to offer more, but a quick scan of the records in the back of [i:12rsmxqf]Cord Complete[/i:12rsmxqf] indicates it to be a Cord 812 Westchester with bench seat. No notes about a supposed unique history.

I would encourage you to join the Club. You own a "2nd generation" Cord which you apparently want to keep, and we do welcome those cars to Club events, tours, and the annual National Reunion. You will also be able to advertise the Westchester through our Newsletter and sell it to a better home, should you decide to part with it. Or, you can be convinced by our Club members to keep the Westchester, fix it up, and drive it...which is more likely.

Hello fellow ACD members. OK, the confession is I am brand new here - this is my first post. I have two Cords - an original 1937 Westchester sedan (missing the drivetrain), and the 1981 Cord Southeastern Phaeton Prototype (SN 815-PRO). I tend to be a resto-rod kinda guy, and I am thinking of selling my Westchester. In fact, I listed it briefly on eBay a bit ago, and had two comments posted that it might be something of 'historical interest'.....more so than a 'typical' Westchester. One comment said that it might be a car originally built for Ab Jenkins (based on pictures I posted of the car), and another comment that it might be serial # 1 of the 1937 Cords. But I am not qualified to answer either. However, before I sell this car to a 'hot rodder', I would like to be sure it is not a historic car that would be lost to the resto-rod world I live in.

Who can help me? I'll try to attach a few photos of the car and the VIN plate here. If you have info, please email me at <a href="mailto:[email protected]][email protected], or call me at 805-391-0509. My name is Scott. Any expertise would be greatly appreciated.

......OK. So I can't even figure out how to add a picture. The data plate on the car reads: 812 1201 FB888. I can email anyone who thinks they can help lots of pictures, but I don't know how to attach them. Or if someone can explain how to attach pics, that would be great too.

Thanks for any help you all can offer......[/img]
