Slow cranking solution was created by ilikescars
I had a slow cranking problem with my 36 Auburn and it worsened after the engine was warmed up. My first thought was to make sure the battery was properly charged.
That didn't help. Then I tried to blame it on the starter, but it tested fine on a stand. Finally, my mechanic suggested that the Startix might have dirty contacts, so I decided to swap-out the Startix with a freshly rebuilt unit. That did the trick! Engine now cranks over nicely.
By the way, Frank Cek recommended that the contact points of the Startix be polished when restoring these units.
